On Friday, June 2nd we hosted our 14th Annual Conference of the New Jersey Association of Mathematics Teacher Educators (NJAMTE) at The College of New Jersey. The theme of the conference was "Catalyzing Change in Math Teacher Education in a Post-Pandemic Era."
We had a variety of sessions about catalyzing change (see program below) such as finding common ground between math and special educators, promoting neurodiversity as an asset, and adopting an ethnomodeling approach to teaching. Our keynote speaker, Eric Milou from Rowan University, talked about lessons learned from the pandemic. We also had a panel discussion on teacher shortage with various participating stakeholders.
